Webinar Series: Certified B Corporation® Movement

Over the past months, we hosted a series of free sustainability webinars designed to help organizations understand the Certified B Corporation® movement and navigate both the certification and recertification processes. These webinars serve as valuable resources for businesses looking to learn more about B Corp certification and embed sustainability, social responsibility, and ethical business practices into their core operations. Below, you’ll find an overview of each session, links to watch the recordings, and information about the expert speakers who joined us.

Meet the Speakers:

Alice Jasper (she/they) - Program Director for People First Economy, Trained B Corp Consultant, Creator, Producer, Host of “Color Out Here” (LinkedIn)

Alice Jasper is a Trained B Corp Consultant, Nature enthusiast and Program Director for People First Economy; a state-wide economic development organization that centers social and environmental sustainability. Through her work with People First, Alice spearheads efforts to convene and grow Michigan’s community of B Corp certified businesses and serves as Co-chair for B Local Michigan. Alice leverages their experience in racial equity facilitation, community organizing, environmental advocacy and sustainable business development to design programs and policies that foster an inclusive and resilient economic ecosystem in the state of Michigan. Alice is also the creator, producer and host of “Color Out Here” a media platform and community organizing project created in collaboration with WGVU and PBS intended to explore the opportunities and barriers to inclusion faced by Black, Indigenous, and People of Color in outdoor recreation and environmental stewardship.

Lisa Geason-Bauer (she/her) - ESG and Sustainability Practitioner, Trained B Consultant (Linkedin)

Lisa Geason-Bauer, founded Wisconsin’s first triple bottom line managed sustainability consulting, environmental communications and ethical marketing firm (Evolution Marketing) in 2007. As an ESG, sustainability practitioner and storyteller Lisa has led the implementation of sustainability strategies and corporate social responsibility programs, projects within the responsible business, government and the non-profit sectors for over a decade and a half. Practical and pragmatic in her leadership style, Lisa excels at building consensus between diverse stakeholder groups and moving a project, action, or initiative forward.

Lisa has been helping companies to become Certified B Corps since 2016. As a consultant she has worked on projects in supply chain sustainability, workforce development, renewable energy, energy efficiency and the green building space. As a B Consultant she has worked with a variety of different manufacturing companies, helping navigate them through the B Impact Assessment, and assisting them to unpacking their more complex supply chain systems and their business to consumer products impacts.

Lisa is a co-founder of B Local Wisconsin and she is currently serving in the role of President. In 2023, Lisa was part of the first cohort of US & Canadian B Consultants to complete the new B Lab US & Canada Trained B Consultants Program.

Jeffrey D. Stewart (he/him) - GRI Sustainability Professional, Trained B Consultant ( Linkedin)

Jeffrey is the Founder and Executive Director of Enharmonic Encounters LLC, a small, Black-owned business that builds bridges toward a more unified world through sustainability translation and consulting. As a former Business Sustainability Analyst at B Lab Global, in tandem with his current sustainability research as a GRI Certified Sustainability Professional, Jeffrey's expertise covers the entire B Certification review process. Also specializing in translation from Arabic into English and currently certified by the American Translators Association for Portuguese into English, Jeffrey ensures that impact is communicated to English-speaking stakeholders effectively.

In 2023, Jeffrey was part of the first cohort of US & Canadian B Consultants to complete the new B Lab US & Canada Trained B Consultants Program.

Leah Steinberg (she/her) - Sustainability Practitioner & Certifications Specialist, B Lab Outside Verifier ( Linkedin )

As a Sustainability Consultant at Evolution Marketing, has been deeply involved in the B Corp movement for the past five years. Her commitment is highlighted by her participation in the B Lab Global Outside Verifier Pilot Program in 2020, where she gained comprehensive knowledge of the B Corporation certification process, learning the ins and outs to help businesses achieve and uphold their sustainability goals. Following participation in this program Leah was a contracted consultant to B Lab US and Canada where she managed the recertification process for more than 150 B Corps. Leah is a 2018 graduate of University of Wisconsin, Madison with a degree in political science and a certificate in environmental studies from the Nelson Institute.

Webinar 1: B Corp 101: Demystifying the Certified B Corporation® Movement

In this enlightening session, co-hosted by Evolution Marketing and Enharmonic Encounters, we delved into the essentials of the B Impact Assessment. The webinar highlighted its significance in measuring and managing an organization's social and environmental impacts. Participants gained insights into the continuous evolution of the B Impact Assessment and how it supports businesses in their journey towards sustainability and social responsibility.

Webinar 2: It’s Time to Recertify, Now What?

This session focused on the B Corp recertification process, emphasizing the importance of maintaining and improving impact over time. Our panel of Certified B Corp Consultants and Outside Verifiers walked attendees through key updates to the B Impact Assessment, addressing common challenges and best practices for staying updated on the current standards and how to set your business up for success during your next certification.

Webinar 3: Unpacking the New Certified B Corporation® Standards

In our final webinar, we took a deep dive into the new B Corp standards launching in 2026. As the framework for certification evolves, it is crucial for businesses to understand these upcoming changes and how they will impact both certification and recertification processes. This session reviewed the draft of the new standards, breaking down key updates and providing businesses with actionable strategies to navigate the transition and remain leaders in sustainability.
